Attorney General Jackley Announces Open Meeting Law Committee To Meet Thursday, Sept. 24, in Pierre

PIERRE, S.D. –- South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announces that the Advisory Task Force Committee on Open Meetings Laws meets Thursday, Sept. 24, in Pierre.

The task force was created in 2025 by Attorney General Jackley to consider possible changes to the state’s Open Meeting Laws. The task force is different from the South Dakota Open Meetings Commission, consisting of five states attorneys, which was established in 2004 to review and address alleged violations of the state’s open meetings laws.

“Transparency is a cornerstone to effective government. I commend and support the task force’s efforts to find opportunities to make government more open to our citizens.”  stated Attorney General Jackley

There are 15 members on the advisory task force representing news media, private organizations and local government.

Thursday’s meeting starts at 1 p.m. CST, both in person, TEAMs or SD.net. The in-person session takes place in the second-floor conference room of the George S. Mickelson Criminal Justice Training Center located at 1302 East SD Highway 1889 in Pierre.
